Cesare Ballardini was born in Fusignano (Ravenna) in 1954. He studied theory and history of photography at Dams (Bologna, Italy). After his studies he had the chance to have Luigi Ghirri as mentor and develop projects with Guido Guidi. In the 90's and hearly 2000 he was active part of Linea di Confine per la Fotografia Contemporanea Workshops, with authors such Lewis Balz, Stephen Shore, Olivo Barbieri and Frank Gohlke. Since 1998 he works at Renzo Renzi Cinema and Photography Library in Bologna. In 2011 he released the book "Dal Vero" curated by Luca Nostri and published by edition del Bradipo.
