Maria de la O Garrido (Linares, Andalusia, Spain. October 1985) studied Photography at The Art School of Granada before earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2011. Currently, Maria is working on her Master of Arts at Central Saint Martins in London. Her work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows across Spain, the United Kingdom, Canada and Mexico.
Maria de La O Gariddo’s work studies traces of experience drawing upon real memories and impossible reality constructions in equal measure.
She work with image in a very broad way, across a variety of mediums -photography, collage, drawing, found images and objects- using these mediums as tools within an overall process, as part of a kind of ethic of collage.
The imaginary created by Maria’s artworks is a election of elements from a disperse spectrum of possibilities and places; juxtaposing, re-contextualising and re-aligning in order to transform and renew meaning.
